Launch Your Meteorology Career Program Applications are Open

Join us at the Blue Hill Observatory July 13 to July 18, 2026 for another year of our week-long, intensive meteorology program for high school students. Explore 21st century career opportunities with Tim Kelley, a veteran meteorologist and weather historian, while learning about the Observatory’s weather data record and meticulous collection since 1885.

The “Launch Your Meteorology Career” program is an intensive week-long program for aspiring meteorologists and those hoping to study meteorology or atmospheric sciences. Students experience an immersive understanding of meteorology through on-site discourse and field trips, learn to accurately observe and forecast the weather, examine proven broadcasting techniques from local meteorologists, and prepare and record a personal forecast. Learners explore different careers in meteorology from researchers to broadcast meteorologists to weather observers and more. Students work one on one and in small groups with veteran meteorologist, Tim Kelley.
