The Earth Day Climb for a Better Tomorrow is the Blue Hill Observatory's signature annual celebration—a community gathering that combines the simple power of hiking with a profound commitment to climate education and environmental stewardship.
Ascend Great Blue Hill and join hundreds of community members at the historic Blue Hill Observatory. Along the way, you'll connect with others who believe the next generation deserves a healthier planet—and the chance to be part of shaping it.
Too many students grow up without access to inspiring outdoor spaces or real-world science experiences. Your climb changes that. Proceeds fund field trips, internships, mentorship, and career pathways that open doors for young people who've been left out.
Join the ClimbAt the Summit
Ascend Great Blue Hill on your own pace, anytime between 10 AM–3 PM. Log your climb at the top and celebrate reaching the summit.
Explore the historic Blue Hill Observatory and interact with science exhibits. Meet local meteorologists and learn about one of America's oldest weather stations.
Enjoy celebratory music at the summit against the breathtaking backdrop of the Great Blue Hills and Boston's skyline.

Know Before You Go
Comfortable walking or hiking shoes are recommended. Dress in weather-appropriate layers — the summit can be cooler and windier than the trailhead. Bring a reusable water bottle.
Check-in begins at 9:15 AM and continues throughout the day in the North Parking lot at the bottom of the hill. Pick up your t-shirt and goodie bag before you start your climb.
This is a rain-or-shine event! In the event of severe weather, registered participants will be emailed with any safety updates or schedule changes in advance.
The climb takes place on outdoor terrain with uneven surfaces. If you have accessibility questions or need accommodations, please reach out to us before the event.
